Pop Art Comes To Willesden!
World-renowned artist Deborah Azzopardi ‘popped’ in to visit the tenants of Young Court in Willesden Lane last week and delighted them with stories of her life and experiences in the art world, as well as showing them some of fantastic Pop Art.The event was part of the newly launched Sixty Plus Group programme organised by volunteer Rochelle Berger on behalf of Brondesbury Park Synagogue and meets every Tuesday morning in the communal lounge at Young Court. It has also included talks by a creative writer and a professional animator in its first month.Deborah Azzopardi created the famous ‘SSHH..” image which has been turned into an Ikea print and sold in the millions worldwide and was delighted to pose with the tenants recreating her famous ‘SSHH..’
Deborah said “It was a pleasure to come and meet such lovely people. They were so interested in my work and asked really stimulating questions.”Rochelle said “I read about Deborah a couple of years ago and kept a copy of the article in the hope that one day I would have an excuse to contact her and invite her to come and talk.
